KRS Enviro supported the clients through the new SAB approval process further to the introduction of the Statutory Standards for Sustainable Drainage Systems in Wales. From 7 January 2019, new developments of more than one dwelling or where the area covered by construction work equals or exceeds 100 square metres require approval before construction can commence from the SuDS Approval Body (SAB).
The SuDS approach by KRS Enviro was designed to mimic as closely as possible the natural drainage, managing surface runoff at or close to the surface and as close to its source as practicable, KRS Enviro established the required discharge rates through calculation of greenfield runoff rates using ReFH software and used Microdrainage software to calculate the required attenuation storage. The SuDS design was based on the existing topographical information and provided a range of additional benefits including for biodiversity and amenity in compliance with the new Statutory Standards for approval of the SAB.
